Our Team Stephen A. Bradley, Founder and President Steve has been in the investment business since 1971. He started his career with Merrill Lynch, where he worked as an institutional stockbroker. Steve later moved to Morgan Stanley as a Senior Vice President, supervising hundreds of financial advisers and several billion dollars in assets. He serves on the board of directors of the TH Group, Inc. and Independent Living Systems, Inc. Steve is also a member of the Association for Investment Management & Research, Security Analysts Society of San Francisco, and the International Association for Financial Planning. He graduated from the University of the State of New York and also attended graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Business School. An avid biker and skier, Steve is married and has one son, Steve Jr., who works at Quantum.
Howard B. Aschwald, CFA charterholder, Founder and Executive Vice President Howard started his investment career in 1983 with Morgan Stanley. He then joined the investment management firm of Stein Roe as a technology analyst and portfolio manager. At Quantum Capital Management, Howard is the Director of Research and Chief Investment Officer. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis and recently retired as a Captain in the Naval Reserve. Howard has two MBA's from Golden Gate University and is a CFA charterholder. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the Security Analysts Society of San Francisco. A former All-Navy golf team member, Howard is married and has two daughters and a son.

Mat Johnson, Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager Prior to joining Quantum Capital Management, Mat held the position of Director of Growth Investment Strategy and Economic Research at ThinkEquity Partners, with earlier roles in the investment industry including the Chief Economist and Director of Growth Strategy with Thomas Weisel Partners; growth stock strategist in Merrill Lynch's Global Growth Strategies Group; Senior Economist and Growth Strategist with Montgomery Securities, and the U.S. forecast economist in Bank of America's Economic and Policy Research Department. Mat earned his M.A. in financial and development economics from Rutgers University and conducted graduate research at both the London School of Economics and Leningrad University. Mat is a long-time competitive sailor, having campaigned for two U.S. Olympic Trials and continues to compete at the national and international levels.
Scott Whittemore, Director of Financial Planning and Client Relations Scott began his financial career in 1980 as a financial analyst with an international petrochemical engineering company in Rome, Italy. Later he moved to Autodesk, Inc where he set up the company 401(k) plan, served as corporate treasurer as well as taking on international management assignments in Japan, Australia and Latin America. Prior to joining Quantum Capital, Scott was a financial advisor with Park Avenue Securities, where he provided comprehensive financial planning solutions for high-net worth individuals. Scott is a Charter Retirement Planning Specialist and has Series 7 and 66 equity licenses. He received a BA from Claremont McKenna College. Scott is married, with a daughter and son. He enjoys coaching his son’s basketball and baseball teams.
Stephen A. Bradley, Jr., Marketing and Client Relations Steve Jr. has been working for Quantum part-time since 1999. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Physical Science with emphasis on Chemistry and Geology. He then went on to study at the University of San Francisco where he completed a Master's degree in Financial Analysis. Upon completing his graduate studies, Steve Jr. joined Quantum full-time as an associate research analyst, also focusing on marketing and client relations. He is also working on his Chartered Financial Analysis designation (CFA). He is currently a CFA Level II candidate. Steve Jr.'s hobbies include reading, basketball, tennis, golf, and snow skiing.
Adam Breech, Associate Analyst ![]() Adam graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Economics. Adam is in the process of pursuing a Certified Financial Planner certification (CFP®). He spends most of his spare time enjoying his baby daughter. His hobbies include literature, movies, soccer, all water sports, and snowboarding. Brenda C. Brown, Client Administrator and Operations Manager ![]() Brenda has over twenty years of experience in various communications, project management, product development and marketing roles. During her tenure at Levi Strauss & Co. she designed the first brand Web site presence on their corporate intranet, including the highly successful “Dockers®” and “Levi's® Vintage Clothing” sites. Brenda’s expertise in online marketing was also instrumental in the successful launch of marketing campaigns for major corporations such as Intuit and American Express. She loves the ocean, enjoys travel, and is a frequent visitor to Kauai and the unblemished wilderness of Alaska. Deborah Pater, Office Manager ![]() Deborah is a Marin County native and brings 20 years of successful project management and financial administration experience to Quantum Capital Management. As a project manager for an international interior designer, an office manager in the various residential real estate sectors and private banking, Deborah understands the importance of client relations. She enjoys the outdoors, her pets and most of all, spending time with her children. Barbara Corley, Client Relations Barbara has over 20 years of experience in successfully fulfilling company expansion plans, raising long term financing and capital, budgeting, sales forecasting, marketing, increasing inventory turns, profits and sales for companies such as Chateau St. Jean, Nordstrom, and Smith & Hawken. She is also known for creating winning results for her clients in the real estate market. Barbara is currently in the process of receiving a CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) and ALHS (Accredited Luxury Home Specialist), as these accreditations will enable her to give her clients the specific knowledge, detailed information and needed edge in a real estate transaction. Barbara's hobbies include gardening, restoring old homes, gourmet cooking, baking along with entertaining. |
